This page explains which cookies DecideCalc uses, why, and how you can control or delete them. Read it together with our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They help websites remember preferences and understand how the site is used. DecideCalc itself sets very few cookies — most preferences are saved via your browser's localStorage, which never leaves your device.

Cookies we use

1. Strictly necessary / functional

Required for the site to work. These cannot be switched off.

• Theme & UI preferences — your light/dark mode choice stored in localStorage. No personal data, no tracking.
• Consent flag — if you dismiss our cookie notice, a dc_consent flag is stored so the banner does not keep reappearing.
• Service worker / PWA cache — if you install DecideCalc as an app, static page assets are cached locally for offline use.

2. Analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage — which pages are popular, browser types, and session duration. These cookies do not store your calculator inputs or personally identifiable information. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

3. Advertising (Google AdSense & DART cookie)

DecideCalc is enrolled in the Google AdSense program. When advertising is active, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — and, where permitted, personalise them based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

How to manage or delete cookies

You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings:

• Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
• Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
• Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
• Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Blocking essential cookies may affect features like saved theme, but all calculators will continue to work normally.

Opt-out mechanisms

Users maintain full control over cookie preference configurations through their web browser settings (see above). Additionally, you can opt out of targeted third-party advertising cookies through these industry resources:
